This workshop is a quick, accessible run-through of risk transfer and insurance — what they are, how they work together, and the details most often missed. It’s a refresher for risk managers and a primer for the colleagues and partner teams who collaborate on this work day to day: procurement, claims administration, operations, general administration, finance, and legal. Public-sector and private-sector teams alike.

• The big picture: what risk management actually is, and where contractual risk transfer fits (avoid, control, transfer, finance)
• The three actions that make risk transfer work — executed contract, certificate of insurance, endorsements — and why all three matter
• The contract types that drive most of the work: leases, permits, purchase orders, professional services, construction, maintenance, facility rentals, special events
• The core insurance coverages (CGL, Auto, Workers’ Comp) and ancillary ones (Professional, Cyber, Builders Risk) — plus how excess and umbrella stack on top
• What a Certificate of Insurance actually proves — and the things people commonly assume it proves but it doesn’t
• The endorsements that do the real work — Additional Insured, Waiver of Subrogation, Primary & Non-Contributory, Notice of Cancellation — and the language to watch for in each
• Common gotchas across COIs, endorsements, and contract language
